Founded in 1949, this Houston Retirement Community is a unique, non-denominational Christian retirement community for persons 65 years of age or older. Prolonged power outages caused by hurricanes and floods could require residents to evacuate, causing both mental and financial stress to the community. They experienced a four-hour power outage in early 2016 that spurred their Board of Directors to search for a backup power solution. They needed a flexible backup system that could meet future growth and regulatory standards while providing reliable backup power.
The retirement community selected Enchanted Rock’s Electrical Resiliency-as-a-Service solution with its dual-purpose microgrids for their Houston campus. Enchanted Rock provides full electrical resiliency for the main campus, ensuring critical service is available to residents during minor power outages as well as extended emergencies. Additionally, the flexibility of Enchanted Rock’s dual-purpose microgrids allows them to comply with current and future Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services regulations and meet additional future load requirements.

Currently, the retirement community has full facility backup power and is no longer at risk of having to evacuate residents due to a power outage. Enchanted Rock’s system allows them to continue their daily operations without disruption, which is a major benefit to their residents. Enchanted Rock’s Resiliency-as-a-Service solution, with its dual-purpose microgrid, enables companies to stay powered and communities to be resilient. Enchanted Rock dual-purpose microgrids are managed and optimized 24/7/365 that enable worry free protection from extended power electrical outages. Enchanted Rock delivers resilient backup power, often at half the price of diesel, by financing, operating, and maintaining the systems.
