Texas A&M Rellis Campus

Texas A&M RELLIS Campus needed reliable power to protect its advanced research facilities, including robotics, connected-vehicle testing, manufacturing, smart-grid, and water-system operations. With only a single radial transmission service, the campus was vulnerable to outages that could disrupt critical work and damage sensitive equipment.

ERock delivered a 9.6 MW medium-voltage, dual-purpose natural-gas microgrid to provide full-campus electrical resiliency. Commissioned in summer 2018, the system backs up the Transportation Institute, Experiment Station, community college education center, and other research facilities. Monitored and optimized 24/7/365 through ERock’s Network Operations Center, the solution delivered dependable protection with lower upfront capital and ongoing O&M costs than traditional backup generation.
